ANIMAL CHIROPRACTIC

WHAT IS ANIMAL CHIROPRACTIC?

Just like with humans, as an animal chiropractor, we focus on improving the nervous system to allow the body to perform at its best. We use safe and gentle techniques to alleviate restrictions from joints to promote the correct movement and function of the joints, muscles and nerves.

WHY SHOULD MY ANIMAL SEE A CHIROPRACTOR?

Someone can bring their animal to see a chiropractor for a range of different reasons including;

  • Performance-  improve their performance in sport, work or an activity they do.

  • Prevention-  keep the body moving and functioning properly to help prevent or delay the onset or worsening of conditions such as arthritis. We also work with puppies (like boss here!) kittens, foals and other little ones to allow your animals to get the best possible start in life.

  • Pain-  help to reduce pain or discomfort for your animal.

  • Geriatric care-  helping to keep older animals more mobile and comfortable even when arthritic changes have started to take place.

SIGNS THAT MY ANIMAL MAY NEED TO SEE A CHIROPRACTOR.

It is hard to know sometimes when your animal is in distress or discomfort. Although you or your animal don't need to have symptoms in order to be seen by a Chiropractor, its a great idea to get them checked if you notice any of the below signs:

Unwilling to jump

Stiffness

Head shaking or tilting

Decreased performance

Continuous licking of a certain area

Sitting with one leg out straight

Lameness or limping

Doesn't want a saddle or rider on

Doesn't like to be touched

Unwilling to play

Difficulty or hesitancy with walking

Changes in behaviour

WHAT DOES AN ANIMAL CHIROPRACTIC ASSESSMENT ENTAIL?

The initial appointment is usually longer than the follow up treatments as we have an opportunity to get to know the animal and discuss in detail their medical history and any current issues they may or may not have. We then assess the whole animal to see how well they move, any areas of tension or restriction and treat necessary areas as we go.
